About the practice
Advice that begins with the household, not the product shelf
Elm & Sterling Advice was founded to give Northern Ireland families and UK business owners a place to talk through money decisions without the hurry of a sales floor.
Origin
The practice grew from years of sitting with clients who arrived with fragmented paperwork—old pension packs, half-finished mortgage comparisons, and questions about school fees that never quite fitted a brochure. We named the firm for two ideas we return to often: the steady elm of long-term planning, and sterling as a reminder that counsel should be measured in clear pounds and plain English.
How we work
Every consultation starts with a discovery call to confirm fit. We gather documents in advance, meet in person at our Sporer-under-Crooks office or by video, and finish with a written summary. We coordinate with your accountant or solicitor when that helps, and we do not pretend to replace them.
People
Values we keep visible
- Clarity before product. We explain trade-offs before anyone signs a form.
- Respect for paperwork. Real statements beat optimistic guesses.
- Proportionate fees. Scope and price are agreed before the work begins.
- Local grounding. Northern Ireland clients are our roots; UK-wide video meetings extend the same care.
